And in the second cybersecurity incident, hackers downloaded consumer call and text metadata. After the release of these incidents, several class action lawsuits were filed against the company, which were later consolidated. Below, we have shared the eligibility, payment, and other details.

Who is eligible for the AT&T compensation?

To receive a payment from the AT&T data breach settlement, you must be a permanent resident of the United States of America and live in any state within that country, as well as be affected by a cybersecurity incident involving either company.

Additionally, you must also have received notice of the cybersecurity incident from the company and subsequently received a notice from the settlement administration regarding receiving compensation, on which the Class Member ID is mentioned.

How much will be received from the AT&T data breach settlement?

The compensation you are going to receive from the AT&T cybersecurity incident depends on whether both were affected by the data breach or only one. The claim form type is also an essential factor that decides your payout amount; let us understand it below.

  • The total settlement fund is $177 million, of which $128 million is for the first data breach and $28 million is for the second cybersecurity incident.
  • These cybersecurity incidents have caused significant financial losses. You can receive a maximum of $5,000 for the first cybersecurity incident for documented losses and up to $2,500 for the second.
  • If you are affected by both the data breach incidents, then in this situation the maximum amount you can get is $7,500; you will get it only when you submit the claim form by providing documents for out-of-pocket expenses.

If you haven’t suffered a documented loss due to a cybersecurity incident, you can still claim it by submitting an undocumented claim form. The payments for such settlement claim forms will be received on a prorated basis, ranging from $100 to $200.

To receive the AT&T data breach settlement, you must submit a claim form. The settlement administration has disclosed details. The deadline for submission is December 18, 2025. You can submit your claim form through the web portal or by postmarking it.

You will only be able to submit your claim form when you receive a notice from the settlement administration, which contains your Class Member ID. If you are considering filing online, you are requested to do so a few days before the due date so you don’t end up having to experience a last-minute rush.
